Since elected to the Pittsburgh Board of Public Education in November 2019, Devon Taliaferro has been “A CHAMPION FOR CHILDREN IN THE CITY OF PITTSBURGH”. Representing Pittsburgh Public Schools in District 2, Ms. Taliaferro has been an active Board Member serving as First Vice President of the Board of Directors, Chair of the Government Relations and Safety & Operations Board Committees, and Co-Chair of the Education Committee. In addition, she also serves as the board liaison for the Career and Technical Education (CTE) program.
During her time on the board, Ms. Taliaferro helped to oversee the safety protocols related to the Covid-19 pandemic, convened stakeholders for the “Reimagine School Safety” Task Force in the district, and has been a staunch supporter of student voice. A proven coalition builder, Devon has worked tirelessly with City leaders to bring the City and school district together in partnership to create and develop pathways for city students.
Her mission and dedication to providing quality, equitable education, and a loving, healthy learning environment for all PPS students has never waivered.
